Tabata will turn 20 in August ans is PROJECTED to be very good, possibly the starting RF’er in about 3 years. It is tough to gauge him as offensively as he’s only played A ball so far where tons of guys he faces will be selling lady kenmores at sears or scaking groceries. Still though he hit safely in 24 consecutive games, has shown some ability to drive in runs, hit over .300 and stole around 15 bases. His defense is considered plus with a slightly above average arm. he hasn’t developed power yet but at 18 last year nobody is worried, the organization believes it will come in time. His problem has been plate discipline striking out 2x per walk, but they believe that will work itself out too. Tabata was signed at 16 for $500k. They have repeatedly stated they will take their time with him and in all honesty they need Abreu (or someone established) for maybe another three years just to make sure this kid does develop.
